Lighting Up India
Story One Solar Panel at a Time
Story One Solar Panel
As part of its ongoing commitment to energy transition and sustainable development, LDII has launched a nationwide initiative to install solar-powered streetlights in underserved regions. These installations are not just about electricity—they’re about transforming lives, enabling safety, and building resilience. So far, the Foundation has successfully installed over 7,000 solar panels for street lighting across India.
The journey began with a simple question: Can access to clean, renewable energy improve quality of life at the grassroots level? LDII took that question into the field—and answered it with action.
From tribal villages in central India to coastal districts in the south and the far reaches of the northeast, these solar streetlights are providing a lifeline. They are lighting village roads, markets, school paths, and community centers—allowing children to study at night, businesses to remain open longer, and women to walk safely after dark.
Behind every light stands a network of collaboration. This ambitious effort has been made possible through the support of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and crucially, the Government of India. LDII has worked hand-in-hand with state departments, district administrations, and village councils to ensure that each installation meets local needs and long-term impact.
Notably, this initiative has also received the backing of several Members of Parliament, who have formally supported the program in their constituencies. Their endorsement reflects growing recognition at the national level that clean energy is not just an environmental solution—it is a vehicle for social change.

Each solar streetlight is a step toward India's energy independence.
It’s a statement that the energy transition is not a top-down effort—it is a movement rooted in community empowerment, sustainable innovation, and climate responsibility.
What sets LDII apart is its people-first approach. By training local workers to install and maintain these systems, the Foundation is also creating green livelihoods. This ensures long-term care for the installations while boosting the local economy.
As India rises as a global leader in green energy, Let’s Do It India Foundation is proud to play a catalytic role at the grassroots. With every solar panel installed, LDII brings light, dignity, and opportunity to those who need it most. This is more than a renewable energy project. It’s a story of hope, equity, and a future powered by clean, inclusive innovation.
